Clinical Excellence in Tourette Syndrome

Child Development CentreThe Calgary Tourette Syndrome Clinic opened in April 2008 at the Child Development Centre adjacent to the Alberta Children's Hospital.  We aim to provide consultation and continuing care for children and adults with Tourette Syndrome.  We offer evaluation and treatment for tics as well as other common comorbid conditions seen with Tourette Syndrome, such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.  We serve the province of Alberta as well as neighbouring communities in Saskatchewan and British Columbia.

While the clinic is located in the Child Development Centre, we will continue to provide care for children and youth with Tourette Syndrome when they become adults, as well as see new adult patients.  The Child Development Centre, which opened in October of 2007, is the largest Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) platinum certified building in the country, and the highest scoring cold climate, LEED certified building in the world. The LEED rating system is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings.

It is our aim to develop a multidisciplinary team model for the Calgary Tourette Syndrome Clinic, which will include medical expertise, nursing, clinical psychology, and occupational therapy.

Currently, our team includes:

  • Dr Tamara Pringsheim, Neurologist, Director of the Calgary Tourette Syndrome Clinic
  • Dr Bonnie Moshenko-Mitchell, Clinical Psychologist
  • Charmaine Orchard and Carolyn Baldwin, Administrative Assistants
