Dr. Nathalie Jetté is an Assistant Professor at the University of Calgary in the Department of Clinical Neurosciences, with cross-appointment in the Department of Community Health Sciences.

Dr. Jetté came to the University of Calgary in 2005 from Columbia University in New York City, where she was a clinical fellow in epilepsy and neurophysiology (2003-2005). Before that, Dr. Jetté completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology (1989-1993) and a Master’s Degree in Neurosciences (1994-1995) at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. She attended medical school (1994-1998) and completed her neurology residency training at the University of Ottawa (1998-2003).

Since her arrival in Calgary, Dr. Jetté has established academic collaborations with clinical and population health researchers at the University of Calgary through the Hotchkiss Brain Institute (HBI) and in the Department of Community Health Sciences. She is developing a program in epilepsy health services research studying: (1) appropriateness of care; (2) access to care; (3) co-morbidities; and (4) health-related behaviours in epilepsy by using various data sources including administrative data and health surveys. Her work also focuses on the development of a national surveillance program in epilepsy. She also has an interest in health services and population health research in other neurological conditions.

Dr. Jetté has received awards from the Epilepsy Foundation of America and the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society. She has won several teaching awards and recently was awarded the American Epilepsy Society and Milken Family Foundation Early Career Physician Scientist Award (2007). Dr. Jetté is also a Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) funded investigator and was also recently awarded new investigator salary awards from the Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research (AHFMR) and CIHR.
