Dr. Oksana Suchowersky is a Professor in the Department of Clinical Neurosciences, Faculty of Medicine, University of Calgary. She is also Head of the Department of Genetics, and Co- Director of the Movement Disorders Program, Hotchkiss Brain Institute, University of Calgary. Dr. Suchowersky completed her MD degree at the University of Calgary, followed by residency and fellowship in Vancouver. She has been the Clinical Director of the Movement Disorders Program from1984 to 2005. Her research interests lie in management of movement disorders, understanding basal ganglia function in motor control, neurological genetic disorders, and pre-symptomatic testing of adult-onset hereditary disorders. Dr. Suchowersky has published in many peer-reviewed journals and speaks regularly at national and international meetings. She serves on the Editorial Boards of Nature Clinical Practice Neurology and Canadian Neurological Sciences. Dr. Suchowersky has received a number of awards over the years, and was recently named one of the Best Doctors of Canada (2008). Click here to see a select list of Dr Suchowersky's publications.
