The Faculty of Medicine, through a partnership with the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Hotchkiss Brain Institute (HBI), the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology, Clinical Neurosciences and the Calgary Stroke Program, invite applications for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, NWT & Nunavut Chair in Stroke Research.
The successful candidate will be a MD, PhD or MD/PhD with the current rank of Associate Professor or higher and have an established track record in the area of cerebral blood flow and vascular biology research, proven leadership in the field and extensive expertise in knowledge creation and application. The individual will enhance research capacity in stroke research at the Faculty of Medicine, bridging basic neurosciences with clinical applications. The candidate will further translational stroke research through collaborations with the Calgary Stroke Program and the Departments of Physiology and Pharmacology and Clinical Neurosciences, and will promote multidisciplinary collaborations with basic scientists within the HBI. The ideal candidate will provide leadership in Alberta (and beyond) and will establish effective links with community groups that have an interest in stroke research. The initial appointment will be for 5 years.
